Questions
Buying a shed or barn near Lewisville
Answers about local rules summarize published city and county information and aren't legal advice.
Does Lewisville require a permit for a shed?
The city's Accessory Building Requirements handout says a permit is needed for a residential accessory building greater than 120 sq ft, with a survey showing its location and construction plans submitted online. Lewisville Building Inspections can be reached at 972-219-3470.
Can I run a home business out of a shed in Lewisville?
In single-family and two-family zoning districts, Sec. VII.3.2.A of the Unified Development Code says accessory buildings may not be used for non-residential purposes or for home occupations. Hobby, storage and personal workshop use is not restricted by that clause.
How far is Lewisville from your sales?
About 12 road miles from our Corinth sales lot, roughly 20 minutes by car. We include delivery details with your quote.
Which ZIP codes and communities around Lewisville do you deliver to?
We deliver to all Lewisville ZIP codes (75057, 75067, and 75077), and nearby communities including Flower Mound, Highland Village, Carrollton, The Colony, and Coppell. Not sure about your address? Enter your ZIP code in Find a lot at the top of the page.
Can I rent-to-own a building?
Yes. Rent-to-own has no credit check, a low deposit, and terms of 36, 48, 60, or 72 months. Terms are confirmed in writing before you sign, so ask when you get your price.
Should I choose a lofted barn or a storage shed?
A lofted barn adds overhead loft storage for seasonal or bulky items. A storage shed keeps everything at floor level, which suits things you use every week. Compare both in the designer before you choose.
Can I see buildings in person before I buy?
Yes. You can see buildings at our Corinth sales lot and our Corsicana yard. Call 214-551-7817 before you visit to check what is there.

County and city requirements for the Lewisville area
Inside Lewisville city limits: The city's Accessory Building Requirements handout (updated 1/15/2025) says a permit is needed for a residential accessory building greater than 120 sq ft, applied for online through MGO Connect. The Unified Development Code (Sec. VII.3.2) allows one accessory building up to 250 sq ft on lots of 7,500 sq ft or less, two totaling 500 sq ft on lots of 7,501 to under 18,000 sq ft, and two totaling 800 sq ft on lots of 18,000 sq ft or more, with a special use permit option on lots of 12,000 sq ft or larger. Sec. VII.3.2 also requires 5-foot side and rear setbacks, 5 feet from the house for buildings over 120 sq ft, no placement in front of the house or in an easement, height no taller than the house, and architecture compatible with the house. Building Inspections: 151 W. Church Street, Lewisville, TX 75057, 972-219-3470.
Outside city limits (unincorporated Denton County): Denton County requires a Development Permit for any improvement to a property, applied for before construction through the county's Civic Access portal with a site plan showing existing improvements and any septic system. Its pages don't list an exemption for small sheds, so check with Development Services at (940) 349-2990 before delivery. In a flood zone, a finished-floor elevation certificate is required after construction. New or changed driveway entrances need a culvert/driveway permit, and county roads have a 60-foot right-of-way (30 feet each way from the center).
Adding plumbing? Septic (OSSF) permits come from Denton County Public Health's Environmental Health Division at (940) 349-2920, starting at $310 for a new system.
