Questions
Buying a shed or barn near Corinth
Answers about local rules summarize published city and county information and aren't legal advice.
Does Corinth require a permit for a shed?
The City of Corinth's permit FAQ and its Unified Development Code (Sec. 2.07.07) say a shed under 100 sq ft does not need a permit. Accessory buildings over 100 sq ft need a permit and inspections, and they cannot be built on an existing easement. Corinth Building Services handles permits at (940) 498-3207 or permits@corinthtx.gov.
How big a backyard building does Corinth allow on a typical subdivision lot?
Table 12 of Corinth's Unified Development Code (Sec. 2.07.07) caps the combined area of all accessory buildings at 400 sq ft on lots up to 13,999 sq ft and 750 sq ft on lots of 14,000-21,999 sq ft. On both lot sizes the limits are 15 ft of height and two accessory buildings. Many Corinth subdivisions also have HOA deed restrictions, which the city's code does not cover.
How far is Corinth from your sales?
About 1 road miles from our Corinth sales lot, roughly 5 minutes by car. We include delivery details with your quote.
Which ZIP codes and communities around Corinth do you deliver to?
We deliver to all Corinth ZIP codes (76210 and 76208), and nearby communities including Lake Dallas, Hickory Creek, Shady Shores, Denton, and Highland Village. Not sure about your address? Enter your ZIP code in Find a lot at the top of the page.
Can I customize my building?
Yes. Sizes, colors, doors, windows, and add-ons vary by model. Try options in our online designer, or tell us what you need and we will match you with the right model.
What size shed should I get for a Corinth property?
Start with what you will store. Tape out the footprint at full size, set your largest items inside, and leave room for the door path. Our online designer shows every size and style we offer.
Can I finish a building as an office or hobby room?
Many owners finish cabin shells and workshops as offices, studios, or hobby rooms. Adding electricity or plumbing can bring extra permits, so check with the city or county before you start.

Shed permit rules around Corinth
Published city and county rules for the Corinth area, with links to each office.
Corinth's code and its permit FAQ say sheds under 100 sq ft do not need a city permit, and larger accessory buildings need a permit and inspections. The code also limits total accessory building size, height, count and placement by lot size.

County and city requirements for the Corinth area
Inside Corinth city limits: Corinth's Unified Development Code (Sec. 2.07.07.A.1.b) says residential accessory buildings under 100 sq ft do not need a city permit, and those over 100 sq ft need a permit and inspections. Table 12 in the same section limits the combined area of all accessory buildings by lot size (400 sq ft on lots up to 13,999 sq ft, 750 sq ft on lots of 14,000-21,999 sq ft, 1,200 sq ft on lots of 22,000-43,559 sq ft, 2,000 sq ft on an acre or more). It also caps height at 15 ft on lots under 22,000 sq ft and allows 2-3 buildings per lot. Setbacks are 25 ft from the front, and the building may not sit in front of the house. Side and rear setbacks are 0 ft for buildings under 100 sq ft and 5 ft for larger ones, and accessory buildings are not allowed in easements. Sec. 2.07.07.A.5 says accessory buildings of 200 sq ft or more use the same exterior material and architectural elements as the house. The roof color and material must closely match the house unless the building is prefabricated or pre-finished. Permits are handled by Building Services at Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway, Corinth, TX 76208, (940) 498-3207, permits@corinthtx.gov.
Outside city limits (unincorporated Denton County): Denton County requires a Development Permit for any improvement to a property, applied for before construction through the county's Civic Access portal with a site plan showing existing improvements and any septic system. Its pages don't list an exemption for small sheds, so check with Development Services at (940) 349-2990 before delivery. In a flood zone, a finished-floor elevation certificate is required after construction. New or changed driveway entrances need a culvert/driveway permit, and county roads have a 60-foot right-of-way (30 feet each way from the center).
Adding plumbing? Septic (OSSF) permits come from Denton County Public Health's Environmental Health Division at (940) 349-2920, starting at $310 for a new system.
