Questions
Buying a shed or barn near Krum
Answers about local rules summarize published city and county information and aren't legal advice.
How far is Krum from your lot?
About 16 road miles from our Corinth sales lot. Routes usually run up I-35 and west on FM 1173, and we include delivery details with your quote.
What size shed works best inside Krum?
Portable buildings of 120 sq ft or less and 10 feet tall or under can sit 4 feet from side and rear lot lines, and buildings over 200 sq ft need an engineered slab. Tell us your lot and we will suggest sizes that fit.
Which ZIP codes and communities around Krum do you deliver to?
We deliver to the Krum ZIP code, 76249, and nearby communities including North Hickory Creek, Sanger, Ponder, Justin, and Denton. Not sure about your address? Enter your ZIP code in Find a lot at the top of the page.
Can I customize my building?
Yes. Sizes, colors, doors, windows, and add-ons vary by model. Try options in our online designer, or tell us what you need and we will match you with the right model.
Should I choose a lofted barn or a storage shed?
A lofted barn adds overhead loft storage for seasonal or bulky items. A storage shed keeps everything at floor level, which suits things you use every week. Compare both in the designer before you choose.
Can I see buildings in person before I buy?
Yes. You can see buildings at our Corinth sales lot and our Corsicana yard. Call 214-551-7817 before you visit to check what is there.

Shed permit rules around Krum
Published city and county rules for the Krum area, with links to each office.
Inside Krum, every accessory building needs a city permit, and buildings over 200 sq ft need an engineered slab. Outside city limits, Denton County requires a development permit.
Not sure which rules apply to your address? Call us and we will point you to the right office.
Rules last checked September 2026. This is a summary of published city and county rules for general information, not legal advice. Rules change, and HOA rules or deed restrictions can add more. Confirm with the city or county before you buy.
County and city requirements for the Krum area
Outside city limits (unincorporated Denton County): Denton County requires a Development Permit for any improvement to a property, applied for before construction through the county's Civic Access portal with a site plan showing existing improvements and any septic system. Its pages don't list an exemption for small sheds, so check with Development Services at (940) 349-2990 before delivery. In a flood zone, a finished-floor elevation certificate is required after construction. New or changed driveway entrances need a culvert/driveway permit, and county roads have a 60-foot right-of-way (30 feet each way from the center).
Adding plumbing? Septic (OSSF) permits come from Denton County Public Health's Environmental Health Division at (940) 349-2920, starting at $310 for a new system.
Inside Krum city limits: all accessory buildings require a city permit and must meet city building codes, and electrical or plumbing needs its own permits. In residential districts, buildings go toward the rear of the lot, not in front of the house. Side and rear setbacks are 6 feet, or 4 feet for a portable building of 120 square feet or less that is no more than 10 feet tall. Buildings must be 10 feet from the house and no taller than the house or 18 feet. Buildings over 200 square feet, or over one story, must be anchored to an engineered reinforced concrete slab rated for at least 100 mph winds.
Materials matter too. In single- and two-family districts, buildings over 250 square feet must match the house's exterior. Smaller pre-manufactured buildings can be masonry, wood, fiber-cement, or enamel-finished metal, with metal limited to 120 square feet and 10 feet tall and screened by a solid fence. In the Agricultural and SF-R districts, larger metal buildings are allowed for bona fide farm or ranch use. The posted zoning text is dated 2017, so confirm current rules with Development Services.
